Snowboarding Movies
There is nothing like watching a video of your favourite sport to get you all revved up and excited about it. With snowboarding you can't be out on the slopes all the time, so a snowboarding movie can act as a great filler for that gap in your life. It can be great watching the pros from the comfort of your own home and dreaming about your next time out there on the slopes or the half pipe. Over the years there has been a lot of really good snowboarding videos made in all types of styles and produced with all sorts of budgets.
There are a few essential features that a snowboarding film needs to be truly great. Top professional riders are of course at the top of the list, and you need to have a few of them showcasing their skills, not just one of two. Music; the very best movies have great and exciting tunes that fit perfectly with the action and with the market. But perhaps the most overlooked feature is cinematography, a truly successful movie needs to look both very creative and have a highly skilled team working behind the scenes. When all of these things come together in one movie, you know that you are watching a really great video.
There are a quite a few movies people will know and love that include all of these features. Many people put the movie 'Technical Difficulties' at the top of their lists, it includes riders like J.P Walker and Devun Walsh and has a great soundtrack to really help it rock. 'Decade' is another fantastic video with a cool soundtrack and more great pros showing their stuff. Another film definitely worth a mention is 'Return of the Wildcats', featuring a crew of snowboarders called, you guessed it, the wildcats. This one is a really fun video and will make you want to get out there on the slopes for yourself.
One new film worth mentioning is 'Ro Sham Bo', a fantastic and original video featuring female snowboarders. This is a market that had almost been ignored way up until 2007 when this video came out. With scenes from Bosnia to Alaska it has truly brought girl snowboarding into the limelight.
'State of Mind' is another film from 2007 that is great as well, featuring really innovative and creative film makers alongside some really cool young talent. This movie is about street moves and tricks primarily, but does include some more country oriented action as well. Some of the young hip riders featured are Max Legend and Jack Devine along with some of the older guys like Justin Bennee and Chris Bradshaw.
Some of these movies will be available from your local snowboard shop, but if you can't find them there you may have to go online. There are many Internet shops that feature movies and clothing that are for sale along side the snowboards. I know a lot of snowboarders wish that it was snowing all year round, but in most places it doesn't. Luckily by watching some snowboarding movies you can get your fix and keep your sanity.
